Lafayette townships offer some stunning outdoor spots for picnics with tons of state parks and lakes, ideal for outdoor sports like hiking, swimming, hunting, fishing, birdwatching, and more.

Some places of tourist attractions like High Point State Park, Bear Swamp Wildlife Management Area, Stokes State Forest, Swartswood Lake, and The Delaware Water Gap are all in the vicinity areas. The Paulinskill Valley Rail Trail runs for 27 miles, partly through Lafayette, along with parts of the New York-Susquehanna and Western Railroad.

The train which was once connected to Jersey City was pivotal in the development of the county in the late 1800s and early 1900s but was functional till the 1960s. The trail is now a major tourist attraction being home to more than 100 species of birds and is ideal for biking, horseback riding, hiking, and cross-country skiing.

Golf is another hobby pursued largely in the beautiful scenic areas of Lafayette. The Sussex Skylands is home to gorgeous landscapes where people enjoy golfing in their pastime. Farmstead Golf & Country Club is one of the finest golf clubs in New Jersey.
